How we make CBG coffee

We were among the first coffee roasters in the world to put CBG in the cup. Here is how we actually do it, and why it is harder than it sounds.

Start with real coffee

Before any hemp, there is the coffee. We use single-origin beans scored 80 or higher by the Specialty Coffee Association. For our CBG line we build on Colombian beans, chosen for a smooth, balanced cup that carries the blend well.

Why CBG is the hard part

CBG is scarce. A mature hemp plant is often only about 1% CBG, because the plant converts most of it into other compounds as it grows. That makes CBG harder to source and more expensive than CBD. Most of the coffee category has not bothered. We did.

ZenFusion: infused, not sprayed

This is the core of it. Many hemp coffees spray cannabinoid oil onto finished beans. It is cheap, uneven, and grassy. Our ZenFusion process bonds CBG and CBD to the bean during roasting instead. That gives you a steady amount in every cup and a clean taste, with no hemp aftertaste. The same care goes into all of our roasting.

We blend CBG with CBD on purpose

Our CBG coffees are not CBG alone. We pair it with CBD because of the entourage effect, the idea that cannabinoids may work better together. It is still a theory, but it matches what our customers tell us. The difference between the two is covered in CBG vs CBD, and the full picture is in our guide to CBG coffee.

Tested, organic, documented

Every batch is USDA Organic and third-party lab tested, with a Certificate of Analysis showing the cannabinoid content and Delta-9 THC under 0.3%. You should be able to see what is in your coffee. With ours, you can.

FAQ

What is ZenFusion?

Our process for bonding CBD and CBG to the coffee bean during roasting, instead of spraying oil on top. It gives a steady dose and a clean taste.

Why is CBG coffee rarer than CBD coffee?

CBG is scarce in the plant, often around 1%, which makes it harder and costlier to produce.

Is it really organic?

Yes. USDA Organic and third-party lab tested, with a Certificate of Analysis.

Does it taste like hemp?

No. Infusing during the roast avoids the grassy aftertaste you get from sprayed-on oil.
