150mg vs 300mg CBG Coffee: Which Strength Should You Choose?
Written by Marc Narrie, founder of Buddha Beans Coffee Co. and specialty coffee roaster since 2019. Buddha Beans has been infusing coffee with CBG since launch, making it one of the first CBG coffee brands in the US.
Buddha Beans offers two CBG coffee strengths: the 150mg Colombia (approximately 10 to 12mg CBG per cup) and the 300mg Black Label (approximately 20 to 25mg CBG per cup). Both use specialty-grade Colombian beans scored 84 or higher, with the Black Label adding 300mg CBD alongside its 300mg CBG for an entourage-effect profile.
The entourage effect, first described by Raphael Mechoulam and Shimon Ben-Shabat in 1998, suggests that cannabinoids work more effectively together than in isolation. The Black Label 300mg blend combines CBG and CBD in a 1:1 ratio, a formulation designed to leverage this synergy for a more balanced daily experience.
If you're new to CBG, start with our 150mg Colombia CBG coffee. If you already use CBG and want a stronger daily dose, choose the 300mg Black Label. The 150mg has about 8mg of CBG and 8mg of CBD per cup; the 300mg has roughly double that. Same beans, same flavor, twice the cannabinoids in the stronger bag.
Here's how to pick between them, and where the tinctures fit.
How much CBG is in each cup?
Our Colombia CBG coffee has 150mg of CBG and 150mg of CBD per 12oz bag, which works out to roughly 8mg of each per cup. Our Black Label doubles that to 300mg and 300mg per bag, around 16mg of each per cup. Both pair CBG and CBD in a 1:1 ratio.
Who should start with 150mg?
If you've never had CBG, or you drink CBD coffee and you're CBG-curious, the 150mg Colombia is the place to begin. It's a real, noticeable dose without being a lot, and the CBG is flavor-neutral, so it tastes like the clean Colombian it's built on. Most people start here.
Who should choose 300mg?
If you already use CBG and know you like it, or 8mg a cup hasn't been quite enough, step up to Black Label. At about 16mg of CBG per cup, two cups gets you close to the 20mg single dose used in the first published human trial on CBG, a 2024 study in Scientific Reports. It's the daily driver for people who treat CBG coffee as a regular part of their routine.
What about the tinctures?
Coffee is the easiest way to make CBG a habit, but it isn't the only one. If you want to add CBG to a coffee you already own, dose more precisely, or use it in tea or water, our water-soluble CBG tincture does that. It mixes into any drink without the oily film of a normal tincture. Our water-soluble CBG guide explains how it works.

How to choose, in one line
New to CBG, start at 150mg. Already a believer, go 300mg. Want to add CBG to any drink, get the tincture. You can compare all of them in the CBG coffee collection, and if it isn't better than CBG you've had before, send it back for a full refund.
Common questions
Is 150mg or 300mg CBG coffee stronger? The 300mg Black Label is twice as strong per cup, about 16mg of CBG versus 8mg.
How much CBG should a beginner take? Most people start around 8mg a cup, which is what the 150mg Colombia delivers. Give it time, then adjust.
Can I drink more than one cup? Yes. Many daily drinkers have two. Two cups of Black Label lands near the 20mg dose studied in research.
Do both have caffeine? Yes, the same as the Colombian beans they're made from.
The takeaway
There's no wrong starting point, but there's an easy rule. If CBG is new to you, the 150mg Colombia is the smart first bag. If you already know CBG works for you, the 300mg Black Label gives you a fuller dose in the same number of cups. Either way you're drinking the same Colombian coffee, just with more or less of the good stuff infused in.

Frequently asked questions
Which CBG coffee strength is best for beginners?
Start with 150mg CBG coffee. A lower concentration lets your body adjust gradually and helps you gauge your personal response to CBG. Each cup delivers a moderate dose that most new users find comfortable. After a week or two at 150mg, you can decide whether to stay at that level or move up to 300mg based on how you feel.
Will I build a tolerance and need to switch to a higher strength?
Most CBG users do not report rapid tolerance buildup. Many people stay on the same strength for months without diminishing effects. If you feel your current dose is less noticeable over time, try a short two- to three-day break before increasing strength. Switching from 150mg to 300mg Black Label is simple when you are ready.
Can I switch between 150mg and 300mg CBG coffee?
Yes. There is no requirement to stick with one strength exclusively. Some people drink 150mg on lighter days and 300mg when they want stronger support. Alternating strengths gives you flexibility based on your daily needs. Both options use the same specialty-grade beans, so the coffee quality stays consistent regardless of which CBG concentration you choose.
How much CBG is in each cup of CBG coffee?
The milligram count on the bag refers to the total CBG per bag, not per cup. Divide the total by the number of servings in the bag to find your per-cup amount. For example, a 12-ounce bag of 150mg CBG coffee brewed as roughly 20 cups delivers about 7.5mg of CBG per cup. The 300mg version doubles that to approximately 15mg per cup.
Can I stack CBG coffee with a CBG tincture for a higher dose?
Yes. Drinking CBG coffee in the morning and adding a CBG tincture dose later in the day is a common approach. This lets you benefit from CBG across more hours without consuming extra caffeine. Start by combining your usual coffee serving with the lowest tincture dose, then adjust upward gradually based on your response.
