Hemp Coffee vs CBD Coffee: What Is the Difference?
Updated August 21, 2026
What does hemp coffee actually mean?
Search for hemp coffee and you will find two unrelated products wearing the same name. The first is a coffee substitute: roasted, ground hemp seeds brewed like coffee. It contains no coffee bean and no caffeine, and it tastes nutty rather than like coffee. The second is real coffee infused with hemp-derived cannabinoids such as CBD or CBG. It is specialty coffee first, with a measured cannabinoid dose added during production.
What is hemp-seed coffee?
Hemp-seed coffee is made by roasting hemp seeds until they resemble coffee grounds. People choose it the way they choose chicory or dandelion root: to skip caffeine entirely. There are no cannabinoids in meaningful amounts, because hemp seeds contain almost no CBD. Buddha Beans does not make this product.
What is CBD and CBG infused coffee?
Buddha Beans roasts single-origin Arabica from Colombia, Ethiopia, Mexico, Burundi, and Peru, then infuses it with broad-spectrum hemp extract through our ZenFusion process. Every bag carries a labeled dose, commonly 300mg or 600mg per 12oz, verified by third-party lab tests, with no detectable THC. It brews, tastes, and works like the specialty coffee it is.
Start with the complete CBD coffee guide, browse the CBD coffee collection, or explore CBG coffee if you want the rarer cannabinoid.

Hemp coffee questions, answered
Is hemp coffee the same as CBD coffee?
Sometimes. Hemp coffee can mean coffee infused with hemp-derived cannabinoids like CBD, which is what Buddha Beans makes, or a caffeine-free substitute brewed from roasted hemp seeds, which is a different product entirely. Check the label for a milligram CBD dose to tell them apart.
Does hemp coffee have caffeine?
Hemp-seed coffee substitutes are naturally caffeine-free. CBD-infused coffee is real coffee, so it has normal caffeine unless you choose a decaf version.
Does Buddha Beans sell hemp-seed coffee?
No. We roast real single-origin Arabica infused with broad-spectrum CBD or CBG from USDA organic hemp. We do not make hemp-seed coffee substitutes.
